Mike Bagshaw is Chief Operating Officer at MTR UK and will be speaking at Global Railway Review’s Digital Rail 2022 event on 7 & 8 November at London’s Twickenham Stadium. Watch this short video to hear from Mike about his panel discussion involvement and how he will use the opportunity to explain more about the use of digitalisation to plan for a high-performing Elizabeth line railway.
Mike joined MTR in 2016 as Bid Director before becoming Performance and Planning Director of MTR Elizabeth line in 2018 and Chief Operating Officer of MTR UK in 2021. His responsibilities include overseeing the planning and delivery of the end-to-end Elizabeth line, developing industry-leading operational performance and planning capability, and expanding a successful operating business portfolio. Mike’s railway career began in front line customer-facing roles in British Rail. In the early days of UK rail privatisation, he was part of the initial management team that developed Chiltern Railways’ expansion to the West Midlands, delivering exceptional passenger growth, operational performance, and customer satisfaction. After a period working for the Strategic Rail Authority and First Great Western, Mike returned to Chiltern as Performance and Planning Director, then as Commercial Director. He later joined Arriva Trains Wales, where he transformed performance and introduced a new standard pattern timetable throughout Wales. As Commercial Director, he led the partnership with the Welsh Government, and developed new passenger services and initiatives to drive passenger growth and stakeholder engagement.
