Together with the recently signed contract for the supply of 30 FLIRT DMU, the Stadler train fleet in Italy will grow to over 200 trains.
For the first time in Switzerland, a large series of multiple units will be equipped with an ETCS automatic train protection system.
The approval of operation means SBB can move forward with its timetable change; offering more reliable and enjoyable train services.
Railway traffic will run over the new bridge from 4 November 2018, and the refurbishment is expected to provide another 70 years of use.
