The first hydrogen-powered train in the world, Alstom’s Coradia iLint passenger train is making its debut in Östersund, Sweden, with aims to reduce CO2 emissions and help decarbonise rail transport.
For a total value of €125 million, Ferrovienord has ordered 20 regional trains for service in the Region of Lombardy, which will be delivered by Alstom from 2023 onwards.
Amounting to approximately €160 million, the order is for six hydrogen fuel cell trains, with the first train delivery expected within 36 months.
The ordered train is part of Alstom's Coradia Stream family, and the first delivery to the region is expected to be sometime in 2022.
