A new era of the railway has begun for the people of Wales & Borders.

Transport for Wales has successfully taken over the operation of Wales and Borders from Arriva Trains Wales. Branded as Transport for Wales Rail Services, the 15-year contract will be delivered by KeolisAmey, and ORM has developed the main digital channel and marketing website for the new franchise.

ORM’s Managing Partner and Founder, Peter Gough, said: “Our rail expertise, agile working practices and dedicated teams have enabled us to deliver a functional marketing website with retail and live train integrations for Transport for Wales Rail Services.”

The website features the Transport for Wales branding which was created by Cardiff-based branding agency, Smörgåsbord.  The site has been built on the Drupal Acquia platform with integration into third-party services including retail solution, stations feed and journey checker, enabling customers to purchase a ticket and manage their journey through the train operating company.

Colin Lea, Commercial and Customer Experience Director for Transport for Wales Rail Services, said: “Our customers deserve a rail service that exceeds their expectations. Digital channels are an important element of the customer experience which is why we are pleased to be working with ORM. The team really do understand our vision of a connected customer experience.”

Peter added: “We’re proud to be the digital partner for this exciting new type of rail franchise – we hope to be working with Transport for Wales for future digital initiatives as they extend into their 15-year franchise.”
