Rail Safety and Standards Board hires Chief Operating Officer

RSSB has appointed Johnny Schute as their Chief Operating Officer.

Johnny is currently the Deputy Director, Railway Safety and Deputy Chief Inspector of Railways at the Office of Rail and Road. He is responsible for all operational mainline, light rail, tramway and metro including all train operating companies, freight, heritage and charter.

His previous roles therefore mean he will bring quality expertise and a deep knowledge of the railway sector to his new position at RSSB.

Welcoming Johnny to the organisation, RSSB’s Chief Executive, Mark Phillips, said: “Johnny brings a wealth of experience in managing large complex organisations and managing risk in real-time situations from his former career in the military. He is known to RSSB through his work on the ORR Review and we are thrilled to have him help us develop and shape RSSB for the future.”

Speaking about his appointment, Johnny Schute said: “I am really looking forward to joining RSSB and playing a part in the drive to become an even more customer-focused business.  Fine tuning the delivery elements of the organisation to develop even better products and services will prove how indispensable membership of RSSB is to all parts of the rail sector.”
