Translink General Manager – Rail Services, Mal McGreevy (front) and New Trains Two Programme Manager James Erwin inspect the first completed train bodyshell in Translink’s £105million order for 20 ‘Class 4000’ trains currently being manufactured at CAF in Zaragoza, Spain.

BODYSHELL-1-FINALFunded by the Department for Regional Development, the finished bodyshells will move into the assembly line for interiors and equipment to be fitted followed by factory testing. The new trains are due to start arriving in Northern Ireland early next year and after a period of testing and commissioning they will start to replace 13 older NI Railways trains on a rolling basis.
