Alstom built Coradia Meridian trains have begun passenger service on the Leonardo Express between Rome and Fiumicino Airport.
The eight new Coradia Meridian trains of the Jazz type, originally ordered by Trenitalia in November 2012, have been individually adapted for journeys to and from Rome Termini railway station and Rome Fiumicino Airport. Each vehicle has been painted in red-white-green livery, referring to the Italian flag and provides wider space in each carriage for luggage.

The Alstom built, Italian made Coradia Meridian is an Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) able to run at a maximum speed of 160 km/h. Its concentrated traction system, with two motor bogies, optimises the electrical braking capability of the train reducing energy consumption and brake wear. In addition, the train is 95 percent recyclable and is designed to be eco-friendly.
