Swedish Transport Agency, Trafikverket, has appointed the COWI and SYSTRA Consortium as technical consultants for the high-speed Ostlänken or Eastern Link project.
Ostlänken, the Swedish high-speed rail project, is a new double-track high-speed railway in the eastern part of Central Sweden. Ostlänken will be part of a future high-speed railway running between Sweden’s metropolitan centres and the Scandinavian capital regions.
Ostlänken will be approximately 150 km long and is planned to carry trains travelling at speeds of up to 320 km/h from Stockholm to Gothenburg and Malmö to Copenhagen.
The Swedish Transport Agency has appointed the COWI and SYSTRA Consortium as technical consultants for the third package of the Eastern Link. The project includes developing 65km of track and railway systems from Sillekrog to Stavsjö with a link to Nyköping and a new station at Skavsta Airport. Overall, the assignment includes 77 bridges and some short length tunnels.
Pascal Mercier, SVP Northern Europe Region at SYSTRA, commented on the consortium appointment: “We are very proud and pleased to have been awarded this assignment. It is a prestigious project that will strengthen our presence in Sweden and will further broaden our international credential in the field of high speed rail design.”
