SŽDC awards important GSM-R project

Kapsch CarrierCom has been awarded the tender for another GSM-R project in the Czech Republic. The specialist in railway communications will install state-of-the-art technology on the third rail transit corridor between the West-Bohemian cities Beroun, Plzeň and Cheb of 185km in length until Autumn 2016. Správa železniční dopravní cesty, státní organizace (SŽDC s.o.), is the customer for the project, which has a volume of around €14.7 million.

Kapsch is responsible for outfitting more than 75,000km of rail track all over the world, and has already successfully implemented this technology in the Czech Republic on several sections of rail lines. The new line connects Prague with the West-Bohemian cities and ends at the German border. It consists of two sections: Beroun to Plzeň of about 60km and Plzeň to Cheb to Germany of about 125km.
