A supplementary agreement has been signed between JSC VNIIZhT and Patentes Talgo…
On February 7 in Madrid, in the presence of Vladimir Yakunin, president of JSC RZD, a supplementary agreement was signed between JSC VNIIZhT and Patentes Talgo. The original contract was signed on January 25, 2012.
This additional agreement was signed by Boris Lapidus, general director of JSC VNIIZhT, and Mr. José María Oriol Fabra, executive director of Patentes Talgo.
The subject of this additional agreement is to regulate the services provided by JSC VNIIZhT to Talgo that are required for the first stage in the development of a Talgo train which meets the technical requirements of rolling stock for certification in Russia. The first stage is “basic engineering” and includes the development of technical specifications for Talgo passenger trains, terms of reference, calculations, tests of the individual components of cars, and the development of design documentation. At this stage, JSC VNIIZhT will provide advisory services in the field of normative documents on 1520-mm railway gauge, as well as examine the calculations and design documentation.
At the signing ceremony, president of JSC “RZD” Vladimir Yakunin made the following declaration:
“We expect the Talgo high-speed train to be an additional resource for rapid transportation with the optimization of infrastructure costs. Such a resource is in particular demand in connection with integrated transport services for the 2018 World Cup.”
He noted that the completed VNIIZhT–Talgo train research trials confirmed the potential for a significant increase in speed on 1520-mm railways thanks to the unique solution of tilting the body of the train.
