The latest agreement of a long-standing partnership, will see the innovative mineral hopper cars delivered to the Acron Group in 2022.
United Wagon Company (UWC) and the Acron Group have signed a memorandum for 500 new generation hopper railcars.
The agreement will see the mineral hopper cars (Model 19-9549-03) delivered to the Acron Group by the end of the first quarter of 2022.
The hopper cars, manufactured at the UWC Tikhvin Freight Car Building Plant, have an increased body volume of up to 120m3 and an axle load of up to 25 tonnes. This results in a full load capacity of 76 tonnes, significantly reducing transport costs per tonne of cargo, and therefore the fleet size required.
This latest agreement builds on the partnership between the two companies which began in 2013.
The Acron Group is one of the world’s largest mineral fertilizer producers, transporting approximately nine million tonnes of cargo by rail per year. The purchase of these additional railcars will enable the Group to continue to increase that total, growing its development strategy.
