The cushions, which feature FlexoFoam’s in-house formulation of Fire-Retardant Polyurethane Foam, complies with all FST requirements of EN45545 HL3.
Being one of the oldest manufacturers of polyurethane foams in the Indian subcontinent, along with being the oldest supplier of passenger seat cushions to Indian Railways, Fire Retardant Cushions has been FlexoFoam’s core competence and the central focus of their research and development (R&D).
FlexoFoam has worked tirelessly over the years in the highly-specialised field of polyurethanes to improve upon the fire safety features of cushions, in addition to providing added comfort for passengers during long journeys.
FlexoFoam’s in-house formulation of Fire-Retardant Polyurethane Foam complies with all FST requirements of EN45545 HL3. The EN45545 test reports for the foam was conducted by one of the world’s largest testing and certification organisations, Underwriter Laboratories (UL).
Rupesh Jain, Chief Executive of FlexoFoam, said: “The test results speak volumes about our R&D capability and, now, we are looking to expand the production facility and extend the supply of our world-class products to the European rail markets.”
UL – being a more than 125 years-old safety organisation that sets industry-wide standards on new products, and is itself accredited by the International Accreditation Service (IAS) for the scopes of tests under EN45545:2 – has tested FlexoFoam’s Fire-Retardant Polyurethane Foam and reported it to be fully compliant to the FST requirements of EN45545 HL3.
