Since 14 June 2020, DB Cargo Belgium has been operating entirely under its own license, meaning that it is now an accredited railway company in Belgium.
DB Cargo Belgium received the necessary safety certificates part A and B in January 2020 but it was opted to have the start up together with the ‘go live’ of new software.
DB Cargo Belgium teamed up with CRX Software for the implementation of the ERP package RailCube, which manages the entire production from A to Z and with Infoland for Iprova as a platform for the safety management system.
The first train ran on 14 June 2020 from the German border near Aachen to Erquelinnes on the French border, where colleagues from its sister company, Euro Cargo Rail, took over the train.
DB Cargo Belgium initially started its activities under the Dutch flag on 1 January 2019. The company now has 194 employees, and through its presence on the Belgian rail freight market, it ensures a seamless connection for traffic from DB Cargo, Europe’s largest rail freight carrier.
In addition, DB Cargo is planning, in the context of more growth in this market, to integrate the port of Antwerp even more strongly into its network by the end of 2020.
