New TransFER connection built by ÖBB Rail Cargo Group

ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) are launching a new rail connection with the TransFER Wels-Vienna-Budapest line, linking Austria with Hungary and the northern European region with southeastern Europe and the Asian section of Turkey. The connection will create further network effects for intermodal solutions on the most important corridors and between three of the most important intermodal nodes in Europe.

In order to fulfil the new TransFER line, ÖBB Rail Cargo Group are working in cooperation with Frankfurt Kombiverkehr KG, enabling direct access to both networks from a single source. Customers are able to benefit from continuous transit times, optimal timing of schedules, and the most ideal connections to the international intermodal networks of both logistics partners. The direct connection between the Wels CCT-Wien Süd CCT-Budapest BILK terminals allows for passengers to change directly from the respective terminal to the Kombiverkehr and ÖBB RCG networks.

The TransFER connection will allow customers from the transport and logistics sectors to be offered another attractive opportunity to shift traffic from road to the more environmentally friendly option of rail.
