Porterbrook appoints joint Innovation and Projects Director

Reporting directly to Jason Groombridge, Director of Engineering Services, Helen and Chandra will fulfil the role as a job share, building on a successful partnership that has existed for over a decade.

Helen and Chandra’s appointment recognises their outstanding contribution and leadership at Porterbrook, particularly in the development of HydroFLEX, the UK’s first hydrogen-powered train, and the Innovation Hub, a novel demonstrator platform for testing new rail technologies and passenger-facing improvements.

Helen and Chandra will work together to further enhance Porterbrook’s ability to develop and deliver complex engineering projects, such as the innovative FLEX range, which enables existing trains to operate on a wider range of electrified and non-electrified rail lines, while also helping to reduce emissions. As part of their role Helen and Chandra will oversee innovation, technical services and new build projects.
