TE Connectivity puts power in the spotlight at InnoTrans 2014

TE Connectivity (TE), a world leader in connectivity, is introducing its latest application-focused solutions for the railway industry at InnoTrans 2014. To help customers meet and/or exceed regulatory requirements, TE has added a number of new powerful products to its already broad EN45545 compliant product range.

New products highlighted at the show include the FXP connector range and the RSTI 68 roofline connector.

The FXP connector range is TE’s first field proven solution that protects permanent magnet motors from return of current, whilst offering the use of mixed contact sizes in the same shell. Designed for the new generation of traction motors with permanent magnet technology, FXP is a completely new solution and the only traction motor connector that allows contact segregation. Compliant with EN 50467 and EN45545, FXP connectors have only a limited number of components, and its integrated coding system facilitates error-proof connection and quick onsite installation/assembly.

The Raychem screened separable T-connector – RSTI-68 Rail Type C Interface – is the only rolling stock-dedicated and improved Type C Interface that is also EN45545 compliant. The RSTI-68 T-connector was specially designed to be able to withstand the significant amount of transients (caused by train circuit breakers) and vibrations that high-voltage roofline parts see on rolling stock during their lives. Made from EN45545 compliant silicone-based materials, this connector offers a combination of features unique to the market, including reduced size and weight in rolling stock applications.

Visitors to the TE booth can participate in a demonstration of the ARISO contactless connector, innovative smart connectivity featuring contactless power and contactless data technology. Based on over 60 years of inductive coupling and mechanical expertise, the ARISO contactless connector hybrid interconnection system can easily connect over a short distance without physical contact. This enables connectivity where connections were not possible before.
