Q&A with Stefano Marcoccio, RFI: Italy’s ERTMS national plan and high-speed rail development

In this video interview, Stefano Marcoccio, ERTMS Project Manager at RFI, spoke to Global Railway Review about the importance of RFI’s ERTMS national plan and its part in the transformation of high-speed rail in Italy.
At the UIC’s High-Speed Congress in March 2023, Global Railway Review interviewed Stefano Marcoccio, ERTMS Project Manager at RFI, who spoke about his opinions on the primary obstacles in the advancement of high-speed rail development and how these barriers to development can be overcome, plus the importance of RFI’s ERTMS national plan to the transformation of high-speed rail in Italy.
From 1999, Stefano has worked in the Control and Automation field, configuring and carrying out the implementation of numerous Automatic Process Control Systems in chemical plants. He has been employed in Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) since 2003 and is currently a Project Manager in the ERTMS Unit. His focus is following the ERTMS border lines, the Rail Freight Corridors and he’s in charge for the trackside approval process. In 2015, Stefano also became ERTMS Team Leader for Rail Freight Corridor 6 and in 2021 leader of the ETCS activities for the Brenner Corridor Platform.
